Snow to Resort Wear

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am in the process of gaining six inches of snow in my backyard. Funny to watch the dog go outside believing that this time it won't be cold, and being proven wrong, but... it does make me wish for places like Florida, southern California, and Arizona. Cool enough to wear jeans and jackets, but warm enough where you can wear heels without the fear of frost bite, as well as no furs. Yes I love my fur, but there are times where I fear for its safety. Here's the thing about furs, you wear them out, make the go bald in places, when you allow things to rub against them. Basic purses can do it! So being able to go back to a simple jean jacket and not fear too much about wear would be nice.
Ah well, you can't have it all. Speaking of warm weather, the snow has made me turn to resort wear for some inspiration on adding warmth to my wardrobe. Yes, resort lines came out a while ago, but who takes the time too look at them? They come on the heels of fall lines and are simply put on the back burner till around... now actually. So here are some of my resort picks for the moment, and hopefully they'll put a little warmth into your winter days.
Marc by Marc Jacobs (remember that romper from two posts ago? Yahtzee!)

Dsquared² (Personally, I'll probably be rockin' black instead of kahki, but we'll see)

Just Cavalli (Lots of aqua, hot pink, black and snake skin here)
Also, colors like coral, navy, and yellow are in designer's mixes, with draped sheaths and simple a-line dresses sprinkled in for taste. And now I'm excited to go shopping my closet, even if I don't get to go to a warm climate afterwards.

Joined Lookbook

And I'm beginning to feel like everyone is a little biased there. Perhaps it's just me being out of sorts due to lack of hypes, but I have a theory about those that actually get hypes:
1. You must look like you shop at places like Urban Outfitters or Topshop
2. Your photos need to look like they were taken by a professional
3. You can't have classic taste. Unless there is an underlying trendiness to it - socks and platforms anyone?
Oh well, I'll keep posting and hope for the best. Lookbook is so that I can flaunt my style and get inspiration, not be ashamed of what I wear. Also, if you feel that I'm full of shit then please prove me wrong. I like when people do that.

As for those of you looking at the weather today, the Chicago area has finally gotten its first real snow. Quite a few inches over here ladies and gents! Thankfully I live with my dad, who lives in a townhouse, who's snow shoveling and yard work get done for him. Yeah! No snow shoveling for me! Another fun thing about the weather: I get to wear my fur coat! Granted I could have worn it earlier this winter, but out in the burbs a fluffy blue fox jacket is a bit out of place, and the days I was downtown it would have been too heavy. But since it shall now be nice and chilly for awhile, I can wear it. I don't know what it is about fur, but one always feels glamorous in it.

Also, I have this terrible urge to have a dark and romantic tea party. Where are my friends who understand this urge when I need them?

New Year, Perhaps a New Me?

So, I need to apologize for the hiatus. Life got in the way, and life became more interesting, and I lost interest in my blog. Go figure. But, I have officially graduated college (won't walk till the spring - college only does it once a year), and did everything I hoped for. That's right, I made a 3.88 cumulative GPA and am therefore graduating Magna Cum Laude (truthfully I wanted Summa Cum Laude, but this is ok too).

Right now I'm in the process of finding a job, and hopefully a career. I also started dating a great guy - got to kiss him on New Years too - and am starting to wonder where my life went. Sadly I'm in a bit of an artistic rut. It's like the world is without inspiration! Granted I have been sewing some stuff - just finished a skirt about an hour ago, actually. My little sis got a nifty apron for Christmas and I made my older sis a set of monogrammed napkins (designed the monograms and everything).

Speaking of skirts and the like, my wardrobe has begun to change. Starting with a good cleaning. Walk in closets are only good if you can walk into them. I'm also now the owner of a lovely "big girl" suit from Ann Taylor. My capstone class thought I was nuts for feeling a suit was appropriate for the fashion world, but I work with furs at the moment and hope to work in a corporate environment later, suits are very much smiled upon there. I also bought a cherry red romper today. It can double as a regular shirt, and once it gets warmer I plan on wearing it to death.

Also - my shoe collection has grown quite a bit in the last month. No, I'm not complaining, merely stating a fact.

These were a Christmas present from my baby sis!

These came about due to wearing out the heels on all my other black heels.

New Years' Eve... Surprisingly comfy too.
Birthday gift from my godmother.

Sadly I'm not allowed to wear these yet, they're for my big sis' wedding.

My closet isn't the only thing that has gotten a cleaning overhaul this past week. My desk is now capable of housing my sewing machine, computer and iPad (my Christmas gift from my dad - yes he is that awesome!) all at once. It's kind of epic... so is the pile of papers/garbage that I need to take out because of it.

I hope I might get back in the swing of writing this blog now that I have nearly too much time on my hands. Might have to try doing some "what I wore" pictures, who knows - I've joined Pinterest, perhaps Lookbook is next.

Happy New Year's!!!
